European Sheep & Production
Sheepskins
Our sheepskins come from European sheep farmers and are selected with love and care. We believe it’s important that our sheepskins are not only wonderfully soft, but also produced with respect for people, animals, and nature. That’s why they comply with the applicable European animal welfare and environmental guidelines.
A tip from us: During your pregnancy, keep the sheepskin close by. It will absorb your familiar scent. Before long, your little one will have a wonderfully soft spot that smells just like home.
A brief overview of our hides
We like to keep our fleeces short! They are specially shorn to a short length so that no long hairs can get into little mouths or eyes, or get caught in little nails. All our medicinal (golden-yellow) sheepskins are machine washable and suitable for tumble drying, while our natural white and colored fleeces are not.
Care
The best way to care for your fleece is to give it a regular shake outdoors and brush it briefly. This will help keep it looking beautiful. We recommend waiting as long as possible before washing your fleece so that all its beneficial properties are preserved.
Eco-friendly product
Our sheepskins and wool products are eco-friendly. Their processing and treatment take into account the environment and the lives of animals and plants. They are safe for children and adults and are biodegradable. Our fleeces are tanned in accordance with REACH regulations. No AZO dyes are used.

FAQ
Did you know, for example, that wool…
Wool fibers breathe and act as a natural thermostat, regulating body temperature. This helps your baby maintain a stable temperature and keeps them dry and comfortable. It does this “dynamically,” which means it happens when needed and not when it isn’t. Warm in winter and cool in summer.
This substance is also found in human skin and is known for its disinfectant properties. It can have a healing effect on sensitive and/or irritated skin.
Recent research shows that sheepskins are very healthy for babies. The study states that children who sleep on a sheepskin during the first three months of their lives are 79% less likely to develop asthma and allergies by the age of 6 (click for article). This is due to the microbes naturally present in the fleece.
Because wool cannot create an environment in which mold, dust mites, or bacteria can thrive, it is ideal for people with allergies.
A sheepskin is resistant to dirt and bacteria and is even self-cleaning. This is due to the structure of the fiber, whose main component is protein. This actively fights bacteria and viruses, preventing them from multiplying. Click here for more information about caring for your sheepskin.
A sheepskin helps relieve physical fatigue. According to scientists, this is thanks to its three-dimensional fibers, which provide natural resilience and softness. This supports our body and relieves pain, muscle soreness, and fatigue.
It is the ideal aid for a good night's sleep and lying comfort. It helps relieve discomfort for people with arthritis (inflamed joints), hip problems, lumbago, hernias, and other ailments. The surroundings stay dry, easing pain directly caused by a damp environment.
Is a sheepskin ideal for practicing yoga and meditation? It is very comfortable and regulates heat and moisture. Some yogis even recommend using a sheepskin, not only because of its perfect size, but also because it insulates your own magnetic field (your aura) and neutralizes the Earth’s magnetic radiation. This greatly helps with the meditative process and keeps your body in balance.
And finally...
Woolskins does not sell sheepskins from sheep that have been mulesed! European sheep (unlike, for example, Australian sheep) are not mulesed because the parasite that leads farmers to use mulesing is not found in Europe.
We offer a very extensive range of Baby-Care sheepskins, carefully packaged and available for immediate delivery from our own stock. We look forward to receiving your order!
